Doña Elena

About us:

My name is Nery Gonzales; I am the youngest of 5 children born to Miguel Angel Gonzales and Elena Melchor. My sister Daisy, my mother Elena, and I, joyfully work as a team running our quaint B&B in honor to my late father.

My father was the managers’ assistant at the Copan Ruins archaeological site for just over 34 years. It was there, and from my own father, that I began learning about our ancestors, The Mayas, while building what later would become my career.
At the age of 13, I began unofficially guiding my own tours. However, after a couple of years guiding, several intensive courses of archaeology, and once fluent in the English language, I officially became a member of the prestigious Copan Guides Association (AGC) at the age of 15.
I am, and have been a proud member of the AGC and the Honduran Institute of Tourism (IHT) since 1996.

( More about my education and Background as a tour guide)

My main job in our B&B is the Web Page, reservations, and property maintenance!!

My mother, Doña Elena as everyone calls her, exudes an old world charm in her way of hospitality.
Her native cuisine will not only melt in your mouth, but her traditional way of preparing it will amaze you. Through all of this she has established herself as one of the best traditional cooks in the region.
Her tremendous ideas, combined with her great spirit of leadership and desire to serve others, have made our B&B become a reality.
I cannot express in words how proud I am of my mother!
When you stay with us, I can assure you that you will feel that she is like a second mother; she will welcome, host, and serve you as if you are the child that has come back home after being gone for a long time.

She mainly manages the cooking, bedding and watches over everything else!

Daisy

My older sister Daisy, moved back in after over a decade living in San Pedro Sula commonly known as “the big city”. She has chosen to apply her working experience and professional skills in our family business. She helps us par time with accounting, decoration, and gardening ideas. Moreover, she repeatedly states that nowhere else more peace and charm can be found, than in Copan Ruinas, her native town.
